Nichole Sofia (b. 1999, San Juan, Puerto Rico) is a visual artist living and working in Puerto Rico. A biology graduate once set on becoming a doctor, she discovered that her true path was the arts. A lifelong painter, she fully immersed herself in her practice during the pandemic and has pursued it professionally ever since.

Working primarily in surrealistic realism, Nichole creates paintings where literature, symbolism, and human experience converge. Drawing inspiration from mythology, fantasy, romantic imagery, and symbolic portraiture, she examines how ideals of love, femininity, and identity shape our understanding of ourselves and others.

She is currently developing an ongoing body of work centered on love and self-discovery, exploring the many forms love can take—from romantic longing and friendship to self-worth, grief, and transformation. Through layered mixed-media techniques, including sculptural relief, glazing, impasto, and gold leaf, she creates richly textured works that blur the boundary between painting and object.

Rather than retelling literary stories, Nichole uses fictional narratives as a framework to explore universal human experiences, transforming familiar symbols into reflections on love, identity, and personal growth.
